Night at the ER

Saturday night and Sunday morning was not a fun time!  Alayna didn't seem to be feeling very well all day Saturday.  She was more fussy than usual and I knew she wasn't feeling well that evening when she was acting very calm and chill and  she was whimpering.  I took her temperature and it said 102!  It was midnight at this time and we decided we were going to take her to the emergency room.  By the time we got to the ER and they took her temperature it was 103.8!!  They gave her baby Tylenol to get her temperature to go down.  They wanted to find out what caused the temperature and so they had to torture our little girl!  They first shoved these little pipes up her nose.  Then they wanted a urine sample and so they put a sticky bag on her bum but she never went potty so then they had to rip off the sticky bag and put a catheter in her.  After that they wanted a blood sample and so they took her blood.

Out of the 6 months that I have been a mother, that was by far the worst mothering experience I have had.  My heart was ripping apart as I watched them do all that.  By the time they were taking her blood, I was trying so hard to hold back my tears. I don't think I will forget the look Alayna gave me as she looked at me with those big brown teary eyes.  It was like she was asking me why I was hurting her so much.

After they were done with all the tests several hours later, they said they think that it is a virus.  Alayna's temperature was down and we were finally able to go home.  By the time we got home it was 6 a.m.  Since we have brought her home I have probably been over precautious.  I check her temperature like every 1 to 2 hours.  I am just so happy right now because her temperature is back to normal and she is her happy, playful self again.  I just hope that Brady and I don't have any more ER trips any time soon!

Growing, Growing, Growing!!

Right now our little girl is 6 months and 12 days old!  She is growing up so quickly and I feel like every time I blink she is another month old!  We took her to her pediatrician for her 6 month checkup, where she got her 4 month old shots, (we are a little behind) and we got her measured and weighed.  She was in the 75% ile for weight and the 95% ile for height!  She is growing great!!  I guess my milk is creamy or something. Haha.
I just LOVE that face!!

It's her half birthday today! :)
She now rolls over like a champ!  I will lay out a big blanket and put her in the middle of it and she will be off of it and on the other side of the room in minutes!  The first time she rolled over was on December 19th, 2011.  We were just in our living room when she finally did it!  She went from her tummy to her back!  On January 15th 2012, she rolled from her back to her tummy!  We were at church in Primary when she rolled this time.  I had to be quieter when I cheered this time around. Lol.  When she was trying to learn how to roll to her tummy she would arch her back and push off with her legs and scream as she reached for the toy by her head.  It was so funny to watch!

This was her 2nd time ever rolling over from her tummy to her back

.
Here are just a few cute videos of our little girl:

Just chillin' after church
After church
Brady always does this with her! It makes me nervous sometimes! Haha

Her favorite things right now are nursing, sleeping, smiling, screaming and squealing really loud, pulling mommy's hair, rolling over, taking baths, riding in the jogging stroller, eating her toys, sitting (she's a great sitter!), story time, playing in her exersaucer, being outside, standing up and walking (with assistance), being put in her bath tub full of toys and then dropping them on the floor until her tub is empty (so funny and she does this over and over! Haha).  She also has this soft soccer ball that has a bell in it that her Aunt Emily gave her and I will sit her on the floor and throw the ball at her.  For some reason she thinks it's so funny! Lol.

She does not like getting dressed or undressed, getting her diaper changed, watching daddy play church basketball (the gym and all the noise scares her), playing with the same toy for too long, being in the same spot for too long, having strangers hold her, when mommy or daddy vacuums, eating rice cereal made with formula (she hates formula), when daddy hides his face and growls (she gets scared and cries. Kind of cute though), riding in her car seat when it's dark.

Texas Christmas and New Years

Even though we are a couple thousand miles from our families and we would have loved to spend the holidays with them, we still had a great Christmas and New Years.  I actually thought it was kinda fun celebrating Christmas and New Year's with just our little family.  I love it that we get to start our own family traditions!

After we got home from shopping on Christmas Eve, we read "Luke 2" out of the scriptures and watched some videos about Mary and the birth of our Savior.  After that we let Alayna open one of our Christmas presents that Brady bought that day.  It was the game "Rummikub!"  We have played that game a couple times with some friends and I love it!  After we opened it we ate dinner and snacks as we played that game and some others.  After we played a few games we TRIED to put Alayna to bed.  It's like she knew it was Christmas Eve or something!  She just seemed so excited and wouldn't settle down!  I kept telling her that Santa wouldn't come if she didn't go to sleep. (It didn't work. Haha)  After much work and two hours past her bed time, she finally went to sleep.  Hallelujah!  She watched a couple episodes of the T.V. show "Greys Anatomy" on Netflix with us. (That is the show we are currently into.)  Before Brady and I went to bed, Mr. and Mrs. Clause filled our stockings.

We don't have church until 1:00p.m. so we got to sleep in on Christmas morning.  We need to enjoy it while it lasts because when we have more kids and Alayna gets older, we probably won't get to sleep in on Christmas morning for a long time!  We started opening our gifts at about 11:00a.m.  It was really fun because we would let Alayna open her own presents.  It was so funny because she loved tearing up the paper and trying to eat it! Haha.  We are so blessed because we have WONDERFUL parents who love and care about us.  They made sure we had presents under our tree this year and even though we are so far away they still spoiled us!

After church we stayed after and Brady helped count the tithing.  The 2nd counselor in the Bishoprik was counting the tithing with Brady and he asked us if we wanted to come over for dinner and to play some games.  We went over to their house at about 4p.m.  We had a lot of fun!  They have 5 cute little kids and they were really funny to watch.  It was so cute because the youngest girl, who was about 3 years old, wanted Brady to play Barbie's with her.  Brady was "Ken" and she was "Barbie."  It was just the cutest thing to watch!  She also wanted Brady to play "tea party" with her. Haha.  It is just going to be the sweetest thing to watch Brady play cute little girl games with Alayna in the future. :)  We got home at about 8:30p.m.  We were so thankful for the Smith's for being so kind and inviting us over for Christmas.  We had such a great time and a very good Christmas day!

We had a really good New Year's Eve and New Year's Day too!  On New Year's Eve, we pretty much did the same thing that we did on Christmas Eve.  We played games while we ate dinner and had snacks and after we watched a movie.  At midnight Brady and I had a New Year's kiss and then we went to bed.  On New Year's Day we had to get up earlier than we are used to.  We are use to having our church at 1:00 in the afternoon.  Now that it is the New Year, we have church at 9:00a.m.  I was kinda excited for church because I got to conduct in Primary for my first time!  It went pretty good except Alayna started fussing right when I had to start conducting.

After we got home from church, I made a turkey dinner that was yummy and then we went on a walk and just relaxed the rest of the day.  It was a very good New Years.
